On September the 30th 1934 a military airplane crashed into Rambla Santa Monica, the end part of the Ramblas. The pilot, who noticed the engines stopped flying over Catalunya Square, tried to avoid landing on the crowded area and flew down the Ramblas at crashed onto some of the trees. The people walking the Ramblas heared the noise and went into the bars and restaurants or streets nearby. The pilots were injured but finally survived.
